EMT Training Program

A-TEC Ambulance’s EMT program is a fourteen-week training program with hands-on skills and assistance from multiple highly-trained, experienced instructors. A-TEC’s Education Department prides themselves in the amount of support and leadership given to each student, not only during the class but also beyond testing and completion of the NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians). In our class, you will perform many hands-on skills in a “stress test” style and also complete an MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) drill at the end of the program.

Jessica Wilkinson-Parr

Jessica has been in EMS since 2010 and has worked in various forms of EMS over the years before finding her place here at A-TEC Ambulance in 2020. Jessica loves every moment of recruiting. She was always the EMT in various hospital EMS rooms talking to everyone; it never mattered what uniform they wore. Jessica flourishes in most social environments especially when she’s talking about her passions. She is always open and ready to give guidance in any way she can to help. We are thrilled to have her on the A-TEC team!

"I started with A-TEC straight out of high school. I was excited to learn and grow but was also very quiet and lacked confidence. I spent hours in the back of the ambulance talking with patients, listening to their stories, and trying to make their ride home from the hospital a meaningful and positive part of their day. Communicating with patients, nurses, doctors, and dispatch pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me grow.

I came out of A-TEC a different person. They helped me grow personally, professionally, and in my role as an EMT. When I decided to pursue a long-term career in 911 EMS, I took leave for the fire academy and was hired by a fire district. I later returned to A-TEC part time and was able to help newer EMTs grow their skills and confidence. I am now a full-time firefighter/paramedic and will always be thankful to A-TEC for being the first step in my career."

Joe Bruno held many positions within A-TEC Ambulance ranging from Paratransit Driver, Dispatcher, EMT and EMS Recruiter. Joe shares that in many of his roles he developed adaptability, built confidence, improved his personal skills, and heightened his critical thinking and abilities. He credits the lessons and skills he learned at A-TEC to his current position as a manager of a high end restaurant, Coopers Hawk!

"I spent 4 years with A-TEC as an EMT-Basic, joining after the COVID-19 pandemic and being uncertain if I wanted to continue pursuing healthcare. I worked across CCT, ALS, and BLS operations. On the CCT rigs I discovered my passion for critical care nursing. I learned to think critically under pressure, adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, anticipate complications, and trust my own abilities.

Through A-TEC's tuition reimbursement program, I received financial support while attending nursing school and graduated in the top of my class. The foundation I built at A-TEC played a crucial role in this.
